When I was in college, all of the nutrition students and I would joke around that the answer to every question was “dark leafy greens.” The reasoning is that leafy greens like kale, spinach, collards, chard, romaine, and more are packed with massive amounts of nutrients that aid in every bodily function from digestion to hair growth, sleep and cell regeneration. We always said if there was just one vegetable you were willing to eat, please, please let it be fresh spinach!
What most people do not know is that more than half of adults in the United States are nutrient deficient in one way or another. The reason this is so common is due to poor dietary choices – between highly processed foods, lack of diversified diets, and meal skipping – we are all a disaster waiting to happen. I want to take a moment to push forward the issue with store music volumes and the music in general.
First, music should always be at a good energy level which should be defined by the managers, which in turn is defined by upper management.
Each store should have a visible sign on the music amplifier stating the max volume for that store and that amplifier. For example, Park Slope max music setting is “31”.
Our music curation is a collaborative effort between our founders, managers, customer requests, and our staff. The music devices are pulling from a live stream via wi-fi. However, the devices can store 250 songs if the internet connection is down to continue to play music. If you here the same songs rotating in a single day, this is a sign that the device is not connected and needs a reboot. Please contact JUICE PRESS tech support for instructions.
The volume of the music plays an integral role in the energy (positive) of the store. The music refreshes the air and reminds us all of the frequency we are trying to emanate with our positive message of healing and happiness. We can not make everyone happy. We are trying to make the staff happy and of course our the comfort of our guests is critical. The volume and the songs will not always be right for everyone. We strive to improve this offering as with all of our Juice Press offerings.
One in 19,000 customers might complain about volume – but it is never ok to lower music. EVER!!! We do not want the music to be barely heard or too low. The music should also never be commonly uncomfortable or make it impossible for normal conversation.

TODAY WE DEBUNK MYTHS ABOUT JUICING!
1. FRUIT JUICE WILL NEGATIVELY SPIKE SUGAR LEVELS! …WRONG!!!
Saying that fruit juice will “spike” blood sugar levels is the wronger… er… wrong terminology. Yes, certain juices can and will “raise” blood sugar levels. This is a normal reaction. With normal chemistry, the blood sugar levels will quickly return to normal. The term “spike” is a gross exaggeration unless you are observing someone with a problem producing the hormone insulin, which ordinarily would regulate the blood sugar levels.
Fruit sugar actually can help people with troubled chemistry get energy from an easy to digest format (fruit), and take the strain off a usually burdened chemistry.
Fruit contains natural fruit sugars that provide natural energy and can satisfy the palate. Whereas processed sugars see to never satisfy and demand more and more be consumed.
Fake foods such as cotton candy, soda, alcohol & chinese food spike sugars and take a lot longer to return to normal. They are also defficient in companion nutrients like vitamins and minerals. Junk food is processed and poisonous so to speak in ways that toxify the body beyond the concern of blood sugar levels being too high.
So eat a lot of fruit. Eat a lot of starchy vegetables. Make sure your overall diet is clean. Too much fruit and too much starchy vegetables is possible. Drink your fruit and drink your vegetables. This is a reliable source of healthy nutrients.

Here is what you need to know as a general rule to maximize our guest’s positive experience.
First, we need for you to become familiar with the term Point of Sale (POS), the term “impulse item,” and “field of view,” and “within reach range.”
Point of Sale is a time frame that describes the exact moment that the guest is checking out and paying. It is literally the “Point of Sale.”
An impulse item is an item that the guest considers purchasing at the point of sale as opposed to an item that they may have been considering purchasing prior to entering the establishment. It is important to recognize that an impulse item is additive, meaning you are adding it on top of an item that is purchased intentionally. It should not replace the item that was originally intended for purchase. A good example of an impulse item at Juice Press is the energy bar because a guest buying a salad and a juice may want a snack for later. It is complementary (…not free!) to their current purchase.
The terms “field of view” and “within reach” go together. Generally speaking, an impulse item should be within the field of the customers view of the check out register and something that is easily reached for from the distance they are standing to the check out.
At Juice Press, we have created a guide for you to understand the seven critical items that must be at your POS station within the customers reach and field of view.
Lets begin: (1) Supplement Display; (2) Gift Cards; (3) New Featured Items; (4) Informational Signage, such as the clean eating program display; (5) Best Selling Items; (6) Energy Bars; and (7) Tip Jar.
Good merchandising requires constant maintenance! Your displays are not static! They need constant attention due to primary factors: (1) Inventory Depletion; and (2) Out of Stock items. Good merchandising accounts for these two factors and adapts to the circumstances.
Training: Constantly monitor and maintain your POS area to maximize the guests experience. The guest appreciates an easy purchasing experience.

I don’t want to make any wild boasts. If you need proof that we are the best in this category as well, let’s give you proof! First of all our coffee beans are USDA Certified organic. This is a huge aspect of quality and safety. Since coffee beans are usually a highly sprayed crop, it’s good to know that ORGANIC beans are not sprayed with nasty pesticides. This blended in with a smoothie works with every smoothie. My favorite are the cleans green and the vanilla. Still, tastes great in fountain of youth and all smoothies.
