SUSTAINABILITY AT JP

WE CARE DEEPLY ABOUT MOTHER EARTH. THE HEALTH OF THE PLANET IS INTEGRAL TO OUR JUST PLANTS MISSION.

A plant based diet results in 70% less CARBON emissions. JP has chosen to be plant based since day one.

ALMOST PERFECT PRODUCE

Food waste is one of the greatest environmental issues facing our society. Over 30% of the food produced never even makes it to someone's plate – a significant portion of this is at the supermarket level. Millions of pounds of nutritious produce are discarded annually because it doesn’t meet the lofty aesthetic demands of major supermarkets.

JP is committed to helping reduce the amount of Almost Perfect Produce™ that is wasted every year. We're able to buy incredible fruits and vegetables at a discount and pass those savings on to you – a win-win!

PLANT BASED for the planet

Choosing to eat plant based is the single most impactful way to reduce your carbon footprint. A plant based diet results in 70% less emissions. Animals raised for consumption through factory farming emit methane and are responsible for an alarming 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. On top of that, feeding livestock puts immense strain on the environment: 70% of the grain grown in the US, and 83% of global farmland is used to raise livestock. Studies show that eating a plant based diet has a tremendous impact on our earth by decreasing greenhouse gasses and reducing land waste.

NO PESTICIDES

Our plants never contain pesticides and by choosing JP, you’re supporting farms who choose not to contaminate our soil, water, and earth. Pesticides are incredibly harmful to our ecosystem — besides killing weeds and insects – pesticides add toxicity to our environment, harming plants and the animals (us!) that eat them.

REUSABLES PROGRAM

We encourage the use of reusable cups in every JP location. We offer JP branded S’Well bottles for retail in all stores. At every store, you’ll also have the opportunity to ditch the plastic straw and spring for a reusable metal straw,

COMPOSTABLE PACKAGING

Our plant powered smoothies are served in 100% compostable smoothie cups. We also use compostable smoothie bowls made from sugarcane pulp and compostable straws made from sugarcane. We’re in the process of changing many of our refrigerated items over to compostable packaging. Our food is already Just Plants – soon our store will be too!

CLOSED LOOP FoOD PRODUCTION

Everyday, we make 180+ products at our Long Island Super Kitchen using only the highest quality superfoods. To reduce food waste, we have optimized our production to create as little excess as possible like upcycling pulp from our cold pressed juice production to use in our soups and kale pesto. We’ve challenged ourselves to rethink our processes and make our production efficient and sustainable.
